About

It all began with frustration.

As an expat in the U.S., my home country’s tax authority requested a document to prove my tax liability to the U.S. to prevent double taxation.

It took me a while to figure out which form foreign tax authorities needed. I got even more confused before I understood that Form 8802 was what I needed to send, and that Form 6166 was the actual certification of U.S. Tax Residency, which I would need to provide to foreign tax authorities.

I thought retrieving the certification for U.S. Tax Residency would be easy once I knew which form to file. It wasn’t. I discovered that the form was exceptionally unclear and difficult to complete. Moreover, the form itself didn’t specify which attachments I needed to include and there was no electric filing.

My goal is to create a site that speeds up the retrieval of Form 6166, Certification of U.S. Tax Residency, and provides answers to the most frequently asked questions. Filling out the form should be fast and easy for everyone.
